Lately, the weather in San Francisco has been amazing. I’m talking between 65-75 degrees for the past week or so. This is very uncharacteristic of Bay Area weather at this time of the year. By no means do we get snow type temperatures, but it can get very cold (30 degrees or less at night) so it feels odd to be walking around the city in cropped pants and a silk tee. Personally, I love fall and winter weather so I can’t help but feel a little sad that we haven’t had any rain storms and that I have to keep pushing my winter coats further back in my closet. Le sigh.

Menswear for women has always intrigued me because I absolutely love men’s fashion. The blazers, the amazing oxford shoes, the bold colors! For this outfit, I decided to take a feminine spin on classic menswear style staples. I bought this J Crew Schoolboy Blazer about four years ago and it has been one of my wardrobe workhouses ever since. I love the navy blue color, the classic gold buttons, and the striped lining. Plus, it’s extremely flattering and equally compliments skirts, dresses, pants, and jeans. I recommend that every woman should own a schoolboy blazer in her coat collection because it is one piece that I continue to come back to. The best part? The classic shape never goes out of style! To add a feminine touch to this outfit, I added this black and white windowpane silk tee. The graphic look of the black and white stands out against the warm burgundy and navy colors seen within the rest of the outfits. For an extra pop, I topped off the outfit with a gold tassel necklace that is very easy to throw on and makes every outfit feel put together.

The final spin on this menswear inspired outfit? The metallic oxfords from J Crew. These oxfords made quite a splash when they first arrived at J Crew in the fall. They almost immediately sold out or were backordered so I figured I would never get my hands on them. Plus, they were not cheap. I did not expect them to go on sale until I saw that they were placed in the sale section one day. Woo! Plus, J Crew was offering a sale promotion (an extra 40% off the sale price) and they were ever so nice and allowed me to stack my student discount (15% off) on top of that! Hello, 55% off! Thank you, J Crew. I have always liked the idea of oxfords, but never felt like they were unique enough for me. These oxfords are perfect, both fit-wise and style-wise. The metallic finish is a fun and different spin on a classic shoe shape and I love that they can go with everything.

J Crew Shopping Tip: Always check to see if items you want are on sale online before you purchase them in the store. J Crew retail stores do not always put items that are on promotion in their sale section and if you did not know they were on sale, they would be rung up as regularly priced items! I’ve had to inform many J Crew sales associates that specific items were on sale by showing them the online listing and they always honor the sale price. J Crew’s service is unbeatable and they are always willing to work with their customers.
