Outfit Details | Coat (Zara, on sale!), Sweater (J Crew, on sale!), Jeans (MiH via Anthropologie), Boots (Hunter), Rings (Etsy), Lipstick (YSL Rouge Pur Couture #19).

This is my traditional, go-to bundle-up rainwear. Even though we don’t reach freezing temps very often in the Bay Area, the rain can definitely make you miserably cold if you don’t wear the right gear. Over the years, I have definitely learned from my rainy day faux pas’. In an effort to look cool and chic, I would ditch the jackets with the hoods (I didn’t want to mess up my hair, duh!) and wore my nice leather boots, much to my mother’s dismay. Oh, did I regret this. Not only would I come back home soaking wet and freezing cold, but my leather boots would oftentimes be damaged from the overexposure to water and I would have to face my mom’s “I told you so” look.

Now that I am a mature(ish) adult, I can finally admit that my mom was right. If you want to stay warm and dry on a rainy day, you need to dress appropriately. Who cares if your hair gets a little disheveled if you stay warm? If you want to prolong the life of your leather boots, invest in nice rain boots that still look cute! The rain coat that I am wearing in the picture above was generously given to me for Christmas by my stylish grandma, who my sister and I call Bumma. I had researched all types of rain jackets and knew that I wanted one that was black, not too puffy, long, and had a huge a hood to protect my head and face. I also wanted it to look nice enough that if I needed to wear it with something dressier I could. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the perfect rain coat from Zara. This jacket is so warm but so light. It doesn’t feel like it weighs me down but also feels very substantial. There is a removable inside layer that you can zip on or off depending on how muggy it is outside (perfect for San Francisco!) and the hood, which is also removable, is so huge that it covers my entire head and then some. Also, I love the material on this coat because it is not shiny like your standard rain slicker. The material looks and feels like a matte finish, which makes it more versatile. Plus, the shape of this coat is classic so I know I will be wearing it for years to come.

Of course, I paired this rain coat with my wonderful Hunter rain boots. Seriously, this boots are magic. They actually keep my feet warm, which is something I have never experienced with rain boots. They definitely live up to the hype, people. To top everything off, I wore a cozy knit sweater from J Crew and my favorite MiH skinny jeans.

Thanks for stopping by!
