Outfit Details | Denim Jacket (J Crew), Top (J Crew, similar), Skirt (Zara, old but love this one), Shoes (J Crew), Necklace (J Crew, old but love this one), Sunglasses (Karen Walker).

Usually, I typically shy away from florals during the winter time because I’m too busy trying to stay warm in my bundled up layers. However, many San Franciscans have been fully taking advantage of the warmer weather by wearing lighter clothing, like shorts and t-shirts. Even though I am a tad bummed because I love bundling up during the winter time, I figured, if I can’t beat ’em, join ’em!

I took out one of my favorite skirts that is very lightweight and made for warmer weather. The colors on this skirt are so gorgeous and I love the bold floral print. I picked this skirt up at Zara in August have worn it quite a few times since it became mine. I’m sure I will style this piece again as we make our way closer to spring, but for this post, I paired the skirt with a super versatile navy and white gingham top and I wore my trusted denim jacket like another top. Since this J Crew denim jacket is absolutely perfect for my body type (long torso), I can button it all the way up to the collar and it still hits me right at the hip. I really love the look of denim jackets when they are worn as tops because it gives an unexpected twist to a classic piece. Also, in my opinion, it elevates the entire outfit from a more casual look to a more upscale look.

One of my favorite things about my own personal style is that it is constantly changing and maturing. Trying out different looks, like wearing a denim jacket as a top, is so fun and helps me get more use out of my current wardrobe by creating new outfits that I otherwise would have never considered. Also, you already know that I love pattern mixing, so blending the gingham with the bold floral print helped the outfit feel fresh and exciting.
