Wool Hat Weather.

Outfit Details | Hat (Free People, bought online), Dress (ASOS, on SALE!), Top (Joie, bought on eBay), Shoes (J Crew, old, love the new style in stores and online), Sunglasses (Karen Walker, Number One), Clutch (Coach, bought and reserved online and picked up in store!) Rings (Etsy.com), Lipstick (YSL Glossy Stain #1).

As many San Franciscans know, fall can be a tricky season here in the Bay Area. Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with my beloved city’s autumn. First of all, I just bought a bunch of new clothes that are only suitable for the fall and winter (hello! Chunky sweaters, boots, faux fur, sequins, coats, scarves, hats…I could go on and on). Second of all, San Francisco weather is usually on the cooler side thanks to the fog. Cooler weather = layering, a favorite styling strategy of mine. Thirdly, it is difficult to get into a holiday mindset when the sun is shining and it is 70+ degrees outside. End rant.

Typically, I am that girl who is always cold. Thankfully, hats tend to keep my head warm, which tricks the rest of my body into feeling warm as well. This wool Free People hat is my first “floppy” hat purchase. Yes, I know. I am late to the game. Floppy wool hats are everywhere, and I mean everywhere, this season and I am starting to see why. They are extremely versatile and help pull any outfit together. Also, ever since I took the plunge and got a pixie cut, I have found that my hair does not pull off the whole windblown look anymore. Seriously, it just looks crazy. Thankfully, I can depend on hats like this one to keep my short hair in check all winter long. Another added bonus: No hat hair! This hat is loose enough to take on and off without worry.

For the rest of this outfit, I love the playfulness of this ASOS dress. The dropped waist and the looser fit is a godsend for tall gals like me (I’m 5’9″ without heels). The flouncy skirt makes it possibly for me to walk without awkwardly pulling at the back of my dress (#tallgirlproblems). What makes this outfit is the extremely feminine Joie lace top. The delicate and intricate design of the lace compliments the heaviness of the dress and gives it a little added something special.
