Outfit Details | Top (c/o Fevrie), Skirt (kate spade new york, no longer available but love this print), Shoes (Zara, no longer available, similar flat version here), Clutch (Clare Vivier), Sunglasses (Karen Walker), Lipstick (NARS), Earrings (kate spade new york, on sale!).

I bet you didn’t know that this week is my birthday week. That’s right, my birthday week. My actual birthday is this Friday, March 13th! I’ve learned from the best that celebrating your birthday over the course of one day is for people who don’t like celebrating and I am most certainly not one of those people. Now, this doesn’t mean that I will have a big birthday party (I’m not) or that I expect people to buy me extravagant gifts (I don’t). I just like being celebrated and celebrating myself, even if no one is around. I took my birthday off from work this year and I am so excited about it. I absolutely love my job, but working on your birthday is not a lot of fun. I am definitely looking forward to some special “me” time!

Now, let’s talk shop(ping). See what I did there? I’m so clever during my birthday week. It’s no surprise that I am not a stranger to full skirts. I love everything about them. Of course, leave it to the masters of full-skirted goodness, kate spade new york, to make the perfect black full skirt. It just screams classic and timeless. Plus, I bought it during the kate spade new york secret sale and don’t regret it one bit! While I’m not shy with color, I have noticed that over the past year I have been really drawn to black and wearing all black. A lot. I love this outfit because it doesn’t look at all drab and it feels chic as hell because of the streamlined matching colors. Of course, I wanted to play up the awesome texture of the fuzzy sweater and I love it paired with the silky smooth skirt. Also, I’ve been looking for a pair of heeled (and flat!) gladiator style sandals and these Zara ones fit the bill (literally, the price was amazing). They FLEW off the shelves and I was lucky to get my hands on a pair in my size.

There is something so timeless about wearing all black and I have a feeling I will be sporting looks like this one way into summer.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

I love your bday week philosophy! I ALWAYS take my bday off work too, and watch my fave movie while eating frozen yogurt and looking at a big bouquet of flours. It’s the perfect time to practice celebrating yourself. I hope you enjoy!!

Also, loving the texture mixing in this post, of the fuzzy-ish sweater and smooth satin. Your site design looks great too!!

Happy Birthday Week! I agree one day is not enough to celebrate. I like your thinking!
