In the spirit of the new year, I wanted to take a trip down “Wannabe Fashion Blogger” memory lane. This was the first blog picture ever taken (with an iPhone 5!). It’s amazing to see what a difference a year makes when it comes to learning photography and what works well/what doesn’t. I’m already awkward when I’m posing for pictures, but having many pictures taken made me totally freeze up! I have become more comfortable with the Jonny taking my photos and freezing up doesn’t happen (as much) because I’ve learned to just shake off the awkwardness and just have fun with it! Also, my hair is so short!
Enter my midi skirt obsession. Thank you, H&M for re-introducing me to one of my favorite wardrobe pieces.
I love going through old photos and seeing items that I still love today, like this Buffalo Check jacket from J Crew. I have major ADD when it comes to keeping clothes because I like to change it up so much but there are always classic pieces in my closet that I come back to time and time again.
Did you know that I am a major bargain hunter? I will always search for the best price and/or wait for it to go on sale. This metallic fur jacket is one of my favorite finds from Anthropologie because I scored it for $45 (originally $298!).
Ah, this dress. Talk about classic pieces. I still love this piece as much today as I did when I first laid eyes on it in Anthropologie’s display window. Thanks mom and dad!
This is one of my favorite shots. Ever. The lighting is great (much harder to find with an iPhone) and that faux fur topper is so dreamy.
This coat is still my favorite coat of all time. I bought it on eBay after I cried (literally, cried) when it sold out so fast online. I knew I had to have it so I scoured eBay for months until I found one in my size. Worth it.
Mixing prints. I have always loved the idea of mixing prints, but never thought I was any good at it. This blog has been such a positive part of my life this past year because it really pushed me to try new things, like mixing prints.
If there’s one word I would use to describe my personal style, it would be “glamour.” This dress pretty much sums that up.
Still one of my favorite shoots to date. If you have followed this blog since the beginning, you know that I am obsessed (OBSESSED!) with stripes. I can’t ever get enough! This dress is the perfect little piece that I pretty much want to wear all the time. I can’t wait to break it out again for spring!
WE BOUGHT A CAMERA! Seriously, the biggest game-changer ever. I bought a Canon 60D and absolutely love shooting with it. So long, iPhone camera. We don’t miss you at all.
This picture was taken right after I hosted my first style event at kate spade new york (pinch me!). If I had to use one piece of clothing to represent me and my blog, it would be this dress. The color, the fullness, everything. It’s perfect.
More midi skirt love.
Jonny and I have really tried to push ourselves to find new environments to shoot in. This is much harder than it seems because we are also busy people. Shooting in our own neighborhood always seems easier, but looking back on photos like these really inspire me to open up our environmental possibilities again!
Another major sale score. The most perfect fitting jumpsuit from Ann Taylor!
This sequin top was the first thing I ever bought from Zara four years ago. It’s been in love ever since.
Valentinos!!!!!!
One of my favorite shots to date. I splurged on these sequin pants and adore them. So fun and unexpected for a night out.
Happy 1st Birthday, Wannabe Fashion Blogger! A huge “one” balloon was definitely necessary to mark this momentous occasion.
…and this brings us to date.
Thank you for following my little blog and for making me feel so loved over the past year. I have loved talking style and sale scores, and can’t wait to see what 2015 brings. With you behind me, I already know that it will be amazing.
xo,
Tamryn
