For The Love Of The Denim Skirt

For The Love Of The Denim Skirt

Friends, welcome to my newest/oldest obsession...the denim skirt. I used to wear denim skirts constantly in high school and somewhat in college but I remember them all fitting so terribly that I kind of just wrote them off as something I no longer wanted to wear as my style matured. Honestly, I think it was the stretch denim that made the skirts cling to my legs and they were all way too short for me anyways. Stretchy + too short = not a great combo for yours truly.

Why I Returned the “It” Jumpsuit Of The Summer

Why I Returned the “It” Jumpsuit Of …

The only way that you have not seen this jumpsuit throughout this summer is if you do not have Instagram or do not have female friends. Literally, everyone and their mom has bought this jumpsuit this summer and I get it. It's super comfortable and easy to wear in the summer heat. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors so you're basically guaranteed to find a color that best suits your style needs. Like everyone else, I, too, was "influenced" to buy this jumpsuit since I genuinely liked the print and how it looked on other bloggers I had seen styling it. Plus, I didn't really have another jumpsuit that looked like this one so I thought "why not?!" and gave it a shot, especially since the price point was decent. However, when the jumpsuit arrived, I just couldn't love it.

How SoulCycle Changed My Exercise Attitude

How SoulCycle Changed My Exercise Attitude

When I used to think about exercise, I only thought about how to make myself look skinnier. Maybe if I ran more miles or lifted heavier weights or tried more sprints I would achieve the body I so desperately wanted. Now, after reading that, does it sound like I thought of exercise as being fun? Yeah, no, I didn't so. As a lifetime avid exerciser (my parents are very active and I played every sport under the sun, including soccer for 13 years of my life), being in shape was a very important part of my life. When I went to college, I had to motivate myself to exercise on my own. There were no parents or coaches to get me sweating so I developed my own exercise routines to help keep me in shape. Notice how I am not using the word "strong" and have only focused on the words "in shape" because, in all honesty, that's all I wanted. I wanted to be fit.

Wanna know a not-so-secret secret? I hate shorts. Well, I should rephrase and say I hate wearing shorts but love the idea of them on other people. Being tall and well-endowed throughout my bottom half, shorts are kind of the devil. They NEVER fit because it order for shorts to fit over my butt, I need to size up (sometimes multiple sizes), which means the waist will always be to big/the fit totally goes to shit.

Over the past couple of years, I have really grown to love western inspired details. If I'm being really honest, I've loved them every since I was a kid. I was really obsessed with all things related to Anne of Green Gables aka Prairie chic at it's greatest. I really love incorporating prairie inspired details into my looks, especially my summer looks when all I want to do is frolic through golden fields at golden hour.
