Choix x WFB

You may remember that I teamed up with Choix last year and had the best time getting to know their amazing company, which is local right here in SF! This year, I am creating two different holiday make-up looks with Choix that would be perfect for any tree lighting, hot chocolate drinking, fancy party, gift wrapping with girlfriends, and/or smooching your special someone under the mistletoe on a cold night filled with Christmas lights. Can you tell that I just love this time of year?

Look Number One: My Classic Go-To For a Night Out

Bold Eye, Luminescent Skin, Pink Lip

I hardly ever wear eyeshadow, but after I tried these gorgeous and super easy to apply eyeshadow samples from Choix, I am starting to come around to the idea of wearing eyeshadow more! For my “bold eye” look, I chose a gorgeous charcoaly/gray (YSL Couture Mono Eyeshadow in Modele) for my base. I loved how easy it was to apply to my lids (this is not always the case for me) and I surprised by how much the color made my eyes pop (score!). I swept this across my entire lid and fanned it out at the corners of my eye to create a semi-winged look.

I then applied a beautiful blush eyeshadow (YSL Couture Mono Eyeshadow in Paris) at the inside corners of my eyes and extended it out toward the middle of my eyelid to create a highlighted touch that really made my eyes sparkle. This is an old trick that I learned way back in the day (think super silver eyeshadow that was super hip in 1999) and I still find it useful today! These colors worked well together and really complimented my lighter eyes, even though I could see these colors working with any eye color/skin tone.

Once my eyeshadow was applied, I used an under eye brightener (Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightner in Nude) to add some coverage (hello, dark circles) and a slight sheen to my cheekbone zone.

Once those bad boy dark circles were history (thanks, Smashbox!), I applied an awesome dual lip and cheek glow (Dior Cheek and Lip Glow) to my cheeks and loved how perfectly tinted it made my cheeks! This is such a great product to grab and go when you need to get out the door FAST. It’s impossible to apply too much and the color is perfectly rosy!

Last but not least, applying the lip color! I chose this GORGEOUS bright pink (Kevin Aucoin The Matte Lip Color in Tenacious) to compliment the darker eye and also because I really love a good pink lip. I’m always trying to find new products to sample and this lip color has become a go-to for me over the past week!

Look Number Two: Bright Cheeks, Dark Lip

My fall/winter go-to look.

For this look, I started with the Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener (love this stuff). I dot it on and then blend it (tapping motions) with my fingers.

Then I tried a bright pink blush color (Kevin Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Liquifuchsia) and I learned that I only needed a small amount to get the rosy impact that I wanted. Once I blended it (do you like my Queen Amadala look below?!), I love the instant glow it gave me!

I then applied a stunning gold eyeshadow (Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Luminous Eyeshadow in Emerveille) that had just enough shimmer to make my eyes pop but not too much to overpower the dark lip I was about to apply.

Ah, the dark lip. I have found (over years of trial and error) that applying a lip pencil in a similar shade to your lipstick is key to making your lip color last longer. In this case, I applied this gorgeous bordeaux lip pencil (Giorgio Armani “Smooth Silk” Lip Pencil in SS11) to set my lip color base. I make sure to cover the entire surface of my lips to make sure I get equal coverage.

To create a deep bordeaux color that packs a punch, I layered a red matte lipstick (Kevin Aucoin The Matte Lip Color in Everlasting). I made sure the red lipstick was a touch lighter than the lip pencil so the color had a bit of dimension to it.

…and there you have it! My two go-to holiday looks created with Choix! A little more about Choix, you can purchase a make-up sample membership, gift Choix sample memberships to your friends and family, and even purchase full-size products on their website! What I love most about Choix is being exposed to brand new make-up brands that I might not have ever tried otherwise. Also, being able to sample these new brands in the comfort of my own home instead of trying to fight other girls for mirror space at a department store is heaven on earth. Plus, it’s amazing to see how these new products can be incorporated into the make-up routine you already have. Genius!

Get 3 months of Choix free! Sign up for an annual membership now and pay just $180 (normally $200). This offer is only good until December 31st (discount applied after checkout)!

Thank you Choix for partnering with Wannabe Fashion Blogger on this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
