Because it is now officially spring and I have been itching to wear all my bright colors at once, I thought I would take this week to showcase one of my all time favorite colors, chartreuse. Many people often shy away from chartreuse because it is a very bold “look at me” color. Well, I am here to help encourage you to incorporate chartreuse into your wardrobe by giving you a few different ways to wear it. Some are bolder than others, and some more reserved. Well, as reserved as chartreuse can be.
Today, I’m showing off this amazing J Crew pencil skirt that I bought at the end of last summer for $10. Yes, $10. I didn’t even know that you could buy anything at J Crew for $10, but their huge sales and my student discount (15%) really knocked the price down. I believe that you can pair this skirt with anything. I did some experimenting with mixing prints together around this skirt and I really liked how it turned out. The pop of pink against the bright skirt, the laid back feel of the blue and white striped shirt, and bold leopard pumps really seem to compliment each other. Many of you already know that I used to be scared to mix prints, fearing that I would look like your local bag lady standing on the corner of the street shouting at the pigeons. However, I have definitely come around to the idea and I have to say, once you start mixing, you just can’t stop. I would wear this outfit to brunch with friends, to run errands, or even for a fun stroll in my neighborhood. Together, the pieces help make this outfit look more laid back, which I always love.
Tune in tomorrow to see how I style my next chartreuse piece.
P.S. Did you know that I’m co-hosting an AWESOME beauty-filled event with my friend and fellow blogger Bobbie? The event will be on April 13th, from 11-2, at The Social Beauty Company in San Francisco. Read more about it here and reserve your ticket (space is limited) here. Hope to see you there!
Such an adorable look, Tamryn! I love all your outfits, and this one makes me EXTRA happy with the stripes, the brights, & the patterned skirt & shoes!
Thanks so much, bp! Chartreuse always makes me happy. It’s just so bright that it can’t help but make you smile! 🙂
