You guys, today is Wannabe Fashion Blogger’s very first birthday. I started this blog a year ago and could not be more excited to celebrate my first year of blogging. I have learned so much over the past 365 days and I am very thankful for the experience. I have met so many wonderful people and have had the opportunity to work with such amazing and inspiring companies that this all truly feels like a dream. I know that everyone says “I created my blog as a creative outlet” and, while part of that is true for me and Wannabe Fashion Blogger, I also wanted to share my personal style with people I might not “meet” otherwise. This has most definitely happened and I could not be happier about it.

The world of blogging can be a very competitive and even cruel place to make yourself vulnerable in (my blogger gals know what’s up). I have had many days when I just wasn’t “feeling it” while taking blog photos (poor Jonny has experienced many rants and tears on my end over the past year) . This can be especially difficult when you want to provide new content every week, which is much harder than it looks. I can also be incredibly shy when it comes to putting myself and my “stuff” out there. I always struggle with not feeling “good enough” and growing your own style blog can be intimidating when it seems like everyone else’s blog is doing better than your own. I’ve learned to just go with it and not compare myself and my numbers to everyone else out there because that can be a very quick downward spiral into depression land.

I’ve also learned a few tricks, mainly when it comes to photography. I started this blog with iPhone pictures and while I don’t regret it, I have seen a huge difference in our pictures once we switched to a quality camera. Plus, it feels so professional when you’re out on the street snapping pictures with an awesome camera. Just sayin’.

If you have ever wondered why I named my blog “Wannabe Fashion Blogger,” the whole idea started out as a joke. I would snap pictures of myself in an outfit I liked and post them on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #wannabefashionblogger. When it came time to actually start my own blog, I thought this would be the perfect name because that’s what I felt like starting out! I still love it to this day because it will forever remind me of a time that I was too scared to start a blog of my own and how far I’ve come since then.

Future plans for WFB? A much needed site redo is on the horizon (aka I need to start researching and putting something into motion). Exactly one year ago, I didn’t know anything about building a website. WordPress made it simple, but I still had to learn quite a bit. Now I know how to link things so you can shop my posts! Now I can edit my page without going into a fit of rage! Hooray! I am looking forward to giving my website a much needed facelift so stay tuned for details.

I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for each and every one of you. You all inspire me to be the best that I can be while remaining true to myself. I am so thankful to have such compassionate and supportive readers. Thank you for kind words, your support, and your encouragement.

Here’s to another year of blogging!

Xo,

Tamryn

Congrats on your one-year! I can 100% appreciate all the time and effort that blogging takes, I just started mine 2 weeks ago. It’s so inspiring to hear how you have grown over the past year, and that if there are “downs” they pass. I love blogging so far, it makes me happy. Cute balloon and party outfit too. Here’s to many more years!
