One Year

It’s been a year in the making but I am finally sharing our wedding photos with all of you, my lovely readers. Sharing these photos with you on our one year anniversary feels very special. We have spent the last year embracing our newlywed life and just enjoying this amazing time in our lives together. If you didn’t already know, Jonny and I have been together for almost ten years so our wedding felt like this amazing culmination of so much love and time spent together as we have grown together side by side over the years.

Leading up to our wedding, everyone told us how stressed out we would be throughout the wedding planning process and how we would basically want to kill each other by the time the wedding rolled around. We worked really really hard to prepare everything for the wedding and my favorite part was that we did everything together. Instead of given me full wedding planning responsibility, Jonny wanted a say in every detail. With some stuff, this annoyed me (clearly I can pick better linens, SHEESH) but looking back on it, his involvement really showed how invested he was. Throughout our relationship, Jonny and I have been very used to hearing negative “pieces of advice” over the years (“wedding planning will kill the romance,” “you guys aren’t married yet?” “how LONG have you been together?” “just wait until the magic is gone,” etc.) and we have always laughed them off. We know how special our relationship is and as we have gotten older, we have come to realize that most people aren’t lucky enough to find a partner that truly completes them. So, planning this wedding together may have been stressful at times, but I really appreciated how much Jonny wanted to be involved with our special day. It truly shows how much he cares about our relationship. Plus, we aren’t strangers to always doing things a little differently. We were the last of our friends to get married and you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love that we always prioritize what’s right for US over what people think is right for our relationship.

Leading up to our wedding, not only was the planning process pretty seamless (okay, we argued over a few things but those usually blew over pretty quickly) but our wedding day didn’t feel stressful. Of course, there were things to oversee and get done so there was some anxiety, but Jonny and I both felt incredibly lucky and happy to be surrounded by our closest friends and family. It honestly felt like a magical day. I know that sounds cheesy, but hey, I’m talking about our wedding and I’m allowed to be cheesy. There isn’t another word I would use to describe the day in it’s entirety. It just felt magical. Everything worked out amazingly well. Everyone that we hired to be a part of our day blended beautifully with our families and Park Winters was an absolute dream overall (seriously, if you are considering getting married in Northern California, I highly recommend looking into Park Winters!). We both still talk about how amazing that day was and how much love we both felt throughout the entire day. It was a really amazing feeling to have the people we loved the most all there to celebrate us.

Our wedding was a really emotional time. There are moments from the day that still make Jonny and I tear up every time we talk about it and we can honestly say it was the best day of our lives. You can see the tears (my photographer nicknamed my eyebrows “crybrows” in one of our first look moments) and hear the love in our wedding video. These are incredible memories to have and we feel very lucky to have had such an amazing day to celebrate our love.
