Date Night.

Along with the rest of the world, the boy and I made a few New Years resolutions that we would like to hold each other accountable for throughout the upcoming year. Some of the resolutions were made individually, but others were made as a couple. Even though we have been together for going on six years (where does the time go?!), we have never made a New Years resolutions together. Hurray for trying new things! One of our couples’ resolutions is to try one new restaurant each month for one year. This may not seem like a big deal to some of you, but those who have been in a long-term relationship understand how easy it is to get stuck in a routine with your significant other. Usually, our Friday nights go something like this:

Me: “What do you want to do for dinner tonight?” Him: “I don’t know, what do you feel like?” Me: “Do you want to just get Eric’s (our neighborhood Chinese place that is one block away)?” Him: “Sure, sounds good!”

Now, don’t get me wrong. We looooove Eric’s. I mean, it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Also, I love take-out and eating food in my PJs, but that’s beside the point! Instead of trying new places, we usually just stick to our usual places and call it a night. So, in an effort to get out there and explore more of our wonderful city (and the cities around it), the boy and I excitedly created our first couples’ New Years Resolution!

For my first “Date Night” post of the year, we finally tried the beloved gourmet pizza restaurant, Pizzeria Delfina. This restaurant has been on our list of places to try for quite some time now so it was so exciting to finally get out there and see what all the hype is about. We only ordered the pizza because that was the only thing we really wanted to try. We ordered the Prosciutto Pie, which was topped with large pieces of prosciutto, chunks of parmesan cheese, mozzerella, and arugula. We were starving so the wait for the pizza seemed like it took forever, when in actuality it only took around 15-20 minutes to arrive at our table. While we waited for our pizza, we couldn’t help but drool over everyone else’s orders around us. The smells of fresh pizza dough, melting cheese, and garlic were almost too delicious to stand! When our pizza finally came, we knew it was going to be amazing just looking at it. With our first bites, we were in heaven. As we were stuffing our faces and wishing we had ordered two pizzas instead of one, we agreed that this pizza definitely lives up to the hype. The flavors all worked so well together and were not overpowering. The pizza wasn’t greasy and it had just enough chunks of parmesan cheese to please this cheese lover.

The best part of this date night was how excited we were to try a new place and break our typical Friday night take-out routine. We chatted about it all the way home and were already beginning to reminisce about how amazing the pizza was. I can’t wait for our next date night restaurant choice! I will be posting a “Date Night” post once a month and I am so excited to share our foodie adventures with all of you.

Thanks for reading!
