WFB + So Choix.

As a self-declared beauty junkie, I am always looking for new products to add to my make-up routine. However, trying out new products in store has never been my favorite thing to do. C’mon, we’ve all been there. The sales people are always asking if you need “assistance,” you are fighting for mirror space with a dozen other women, who knows when the last time the samples were cleaned, and it can get pretty embarrassing when you “try out” that trendy lip color that ends up looking awful and you can’t seem to find anything to wipe it off with. Awesome.

When So Choix, a brand new San Francisco beauty company that sends designer beauty samples to your doorstep, wanted to collaborate with me to create a fall-inspired make-up look, I couldn’t say no! I was very curious to see what this process was going to look like. Would the samples be placed on those little cards that you see in magazines? Would the sample be enough for one application? How were they going to give me samples of lipgloss and lipstick?

I squealed when my So Choix box came. Squealed. That’s how much I love make-up. When I opened it up, I couldn’t believe how creative and immaculate the packaging was. Never has trying out new make-up been so glamorous! They even thought to send me a wonderful gift of full size brushes and applicators alongside a small package of sponges and brushes to apply the samples. How thoughtful is that?

One of my favorite parts of So Choix was how large the samples were. My fears about insufficient samples completely washed away. The samples were so generous, that I will get multiple uses out of them. I sampled two lip products (product info is listed in the picture above), one lipgloss and one lipstick. The lipstick sample was cut directly from the tube and the lipstick was put in cutest little lipgloss container. Again, So Choix thinks of everything.

With my samples in hand, I created a fall-inspired make-up look that took me out of my own comfort zone. What’s the point of trying new products if you can’t have a little fun?

Here we go!

Step One: The Set-Up.

When I do my make-up, I like to have everything spread out in front of me. I added my So Choix samples to my make-up go-tos that I use everyday.

Step Two: Correct.

I used the Bobbi Brown Corrector sample to dab under my eyes to fill in any lines and give my under-eye skin a boost of radiance. This product is AH-MAZING. I feel like I could wear it alone and still feel confident that my under-eyes are fully covered. Apply with fingers or a brush and then blend with your finger using a tapping motion.

Step Three: Cover.

I absolutely love Bobbi Brown products and my long-time favorite is her under-eye concealer. This is the best concealer that I have ever used. Apply with fingers or a brush and then blend with your finger using a tapping motion. Once blended, use the powder to set.

Step Four: Prime.

NARS has the best eye primer. Ever. My friend recommended this to me a long time ago and I have been using it ever since. I have oily lids (and skin) and this stuff makes things last with no creasing, rub off, or fading. It’s magical. I use this every time I apply eyeshadow or eyeliner.

Step Five: Blush

I recently received this Bobbi Brown blush as a gift. This product has made me fall in love with cream blushes. I have been using Bobbi Brown powder brushes for awhile now, but this one is a game changer. It doesn’t fade, smear, or look fake. I love the natural flushed look that it gives my skin.

Step Six: Highlight

This is a must-have product that many women don’t know about it. Ladies, highlight, highlight, highlight! It will make your skin glow like you just had a facial.

Step Seven: Eyeshadow-Base

When applying eyeshadow, I always choose a shimmer base that will help my eyes stand out. From So Choix, I chose a beautiful shimmery brown color that I knew would make my blue-green eyes pop. I always test the eyeshadow consistency on my hand so that I avoid glopping on too much color. With the base, I always start with the corners of my eye. I wing out the shadow with a eyeshadow brush so that my eyes look bigger. I also take a little bit of the eyeshadow and apply it directly under my lower lashes.

Step Eight: Eyeshadow #2 (Color)

To add dimension, I always add a second color. For this So Choix fall-inspired look, I wanted to add a dark shimmery blue. I am loving navy blue this season and thought it would be a fun, subtle addition to this smoky eye.

Step Nine: Eyeliner

I always add liquid eyeliner to every smoky eye that I do because it makes it look so fierce. I mirror the winged eyeshadow and wing the eyeliner as well.

Step Ten: Mascara

I have very long eyelashes so curling them is a must for me. Once my lashes are curled, I apply my mascara.

Step Eleven: Lipstick/Lipgloss

I couldn’t decide which So Choix lip sample I wanted to use so I used both! I absolutely fell in love with the Chanel lipstick sample and have a feeling it will be my new go-to lip color. I used the lipstick like a stain to add a touch more color. Then I applied my So Choix Bobbi Brown lipgloss sample over the top for the final touch.

And, Ta-Dah! You have the final look.
