Sure, summers usually mean warm weather, trips to the pool, and evenings spent BBQing with friends and family, but for most people in the 20's and 30's, summers also mean wedding season. With so many people wanting to tie the knot in the summer time, I often find it challenging to find multiple outfits that are not only appropriate to wear to weddings (damn all my perfect white formal pieces!) but will also work in a variety of weather conditions. When it comes to wedding dresses, I often struggle finding pieces that will work for more casual weddings. For me, I really prefer to dress up for weddings (it's fun!) but Jonny and I are going to a more casual wedding at the end of July and I just knew this dress could be perfect for that occasion.
I've always had this love/hate relationship with summer dressing. I have to admit, I am a fall/winter style lover. I adore layers, textured coats, and boots. I mean, I live in San Francisco so technically I can wear these things year round, but in the summer, I always feel the need to lighten up my style choices a bit. However, with the summer weather comes my insecurity with how to appropriately dress during the warmer months. I usually count down the days until I can bust out my winter coats again, but this year, I'm having a total love affair with summer. I mean, I literally can't stop myself from buying and wearing light and airy pieces that are just made for lounging in the sun (well, in my case lounging in the shade because sun damage). I think that I owe a large part of this to our recent trip to Austin and while it was super hot there, I really liked frolicking around in all my summer pieces.
Happy (almost) 4th of July! I usually don't really theme dress for holidays but for some reason, I have been really drawn to reds this summer and I am coincidently giving off those July holiday vibes with this outfit. I actually bought this sweater in spring and love the red, white and blue varsity stripes. Doesn't it kind of give off Gucci vibes? I think so!
When you know, you know. I was introduced to Doen via WhoWhatWear about a month and a half ago and, you guys, it has been a love affair ever since. I honestly cannot get enough of Doen's designs. Not only is each piece insanely wearable, but every style is so incredibly unique. I mean, check out those beautiful details! Oh, and everything is insanely soft. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is the most comfortable dress I own.
If you live in a city like San Francisco, you walk places. A lot. Whenever we can, Jonny and I love walking around our city. We get to take in our neighborhood sites, stroll around while chatting with each other about the week, and get a little exercise while we're at it. However, with all this walking, I have definitely shifted my shoes of choice from heels to flats and sneakers and honestly, I love it. With this comfy change, I am always on the lookout for great sneakers to wear around the city and I am obsessed with this pair of Skye Foorwear sneaks. Now that I wear tennies with everything, I know I'll be getting a lot of use and a lot of compliments out of this pair in the months to come.
