Playful Gingham

Playful Gingham

There's something truly magical about gingham. Maybe it's because gingham invokes thoughts and feelings that circle around warm weather, longer days, and vacations. In the spring and summer, gingham tends to be one of the only prints I want to wear. I find myself reaching for it constantly, mostly because it's comfortable to wear when it's hot outside but I also just love how playful it is. I found this Zara jumpsuit a few weeks ago when I was shopping for something totally different (that's always how it happens, right?) but I just couldn't walk away from it. I just loved the cut and the white buttons and the navy and white print! I don't think I would (really more like "could") wear this piece without a top underneath but as you all know, I love the layered look so I'm cool with it. Anyway, I can't wait to wear this piece all summer long. BBQ's, here I come!

Another day, another amazing Reformation dress, amiright?! I saw this rosebud print surface a few months ago and I remember being so obsessed with it when I first saw the pieces online. However, I didn't get a chance to see this dress in person until I was invited to check out the new Reformation store on Fillmore St. in San Francisco. Side note: If you haven't been yet, you NEED to go. It's gorgeous! Anyway, when I laid eyes on this beauty of a dress, I knew it was coming home with me. The print, the cut, the fun back, I mean, what more could I want? This dress is actually a bit different for me because I don't normally love to show a ton of skin. Having the cut out in the back was a little intimidating for me at first, but once I put it on, it truly fit like a glove and I actually started liking that it was very different from the types of dresses I normally gravitate toward. Plus, it's always fun and exciting to try something new! In other news, yes, I'm still wearing berets and still loving it. Once the weather warms up a bit, I will most likely retire them until fall but I just love wearing them so much that I will rock them for as long as I can.

Lately, I have really been digging the jumpsuit game. Before Ariana and I went to New York, I knew I wanted to bring a jumpsuit with me that wasn't sleeveless and had full length inseams. When I saw this ASOS jumpsuit, I nearly screamed with joy. First of all, I love polka dots, especially those of the white and brown variety (remember my Reformation dresses that I bought last summer? Same print, different styles, but I just loved the brown and white polka dots so much!). Secondly, I loved that the length of the pants were actually long enough for this tall gal. Thirdly, it's SUPER flattering. I was honestly a little surprised with how well it fit. ASOS can kind of be a crapshoot when it comes to sizing but this polka dot number fit great. Lastly, one of the best parts of this jumpsuit is that it can easily be layered for cooler weather and worn on it's own for warmer weather. So far, it feels very versatile, which is something I'm always looking for when I buy new pieces!

I've always been a fan of good ol' Americana vibes and this 27 miles sweater makes me feel American AF! I just love how vintage it looks and it might be the softest sweater I have ever worn. When I first got this sweater, I actually day dreamed about wearing it under a blazer, like this Anine Bing one I'm wearing here, because I am really into the texture combo. The small check plaid mixed with the bold stars and stripes make for a very street style inspired look, one that I received many compliments on when I wore this outfit IRL. Add my beloved blue Chanel and you've got yourself a full on Americana look complete with vintage inspired jeans and white tennies. I think Tom Petty would be proud.
